As The Journey Begins is the debut album of the Sebastiaan van Bavel Trio. The album was instantly awarded a prestigious Edison Award Jazz National 2014.

Liner notes:

First of all, we would like to thank you for supporting our music by buying this CD. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it.

At this exact spot, one would normally find a few words written by a critic or musician, describing how amazing the trio and music is. Nowadays every CD has these same words, which from my point of view implies that everybody is a "creative genius". This would mean that everybody is amazing which, unfortunately, entails that no one is amazing. So instead of asking some one to write random compliments about the trio, I would rather have you decide for yourself whether or not you like the music we created.
The one thing I would like to ask you to do when listening to the music, is to keep an open mind.
